Bio:

Beth Van Schaack is a professor of law at Santa Clara University School of Law. For the year 2009-2010, she was a Visiting Scholar with the Center on Democracy, Development & the Rule of Law at Stanford University. She was the academic expert on the U.S. delegation to the ICC Review Conference in Kampala, Uganda. Her prior appointments include:

  • Practicing attorney, Morrison & Foerster, Palo Alto, CA (1999-2002)
  • Acting Executive Director & Staff Attorney, The Center for Justice and Accountability, San Francisco, CA (1998-1999)
  • Law Clerk, Office of the Prosecutor, International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia, The Hague (1997-1998)
Professor Van Schaack's areas of specialization include: International Law, International Human Rights, Transitional Justice, International Criminal Law & Humanitarian Law, Civil Procedure, and Comparative Law.
